MY MISSION: TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR PASSION AND TO CATCH ON FIRE

I am a college professor, with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, and I'm also a bit of a mad scientist. I’ve always liked things at the extreme, possibly because I grew up on the rugged shores of Newfoundland, alongside Iceberg Ally. Extreme cold, extreme dryness, the Mission to Mars, all fascinate me. I love post-apocolyptic dramas. Much of my life's work has focused on engineering solutions that enable ‘suspended animation’ of cells, tissues, and organs. I love to share my enthusiasm for this field with anyone that will listen. My classes often go over the allotted time. I tell my students that I'm a good deal because of all the bonus minutes. My kids accuse me of trying to sneak in 'extra education'.

I am a big fan of the environment and nature and I take regular tree baths. I Iove pretty much anything outdoors, whether on foot, wheels, or board. When I fly downhill on my bike I grin like a hyena because it makes me feel like my original little girl self. I love getting up before the sun. I ask hard questions. Often too early in the morning for most people. 'Why' is my favorite word.

I love to read, especially the old scholars. I'm a BIG fan of Marcus Aurelius and his stoic mates. My dog-eared copy of Meditations is always within reach. I like to read and journal about philosophy, psychology, personal development, productivity, and leadership.
